Alex M. Grigorians is an experienced commercial real estate transactional and business attorney who draws from a broad range of expertise from his years practicing at global and national law firms. Alex's practical and conservative approach to addressing the business concerns of his clients makes him a trusted and valued advisor.

Mr. Grigorians focuses his practice on real estate and real estate finance as well as business and corporate transactions. He regularly advises financial institutions, opportunity funds, trusts, developers, operators, syndicators, family offices and private equity providers on a broad range of transactional real estate and business matters. With extensive experience in handling all aspects of commercial real estate transactions and related corporate issues, Alex represents clients in permanent and bridge loan origination, CMBS conduit loans, construction loans, preferred equity transactions, mezzanine loans and various creative financing structures. Alex regularly advises on acquisitions, dispositions, leasing and development of mixed-use developments, multifamily projects, retail centers, office centers and industrial properties.

Prior to joining Safarian Choi & Bolstad, Mr. Grigorians was a member of the Real Estate Department at the Los Angeles office of a national firm where he advised institutional investors, special servicers, receivers, banks and developers. Prior to that, Alex was a member of the Global Finance and Debt Products Group at an international firm, where he advised institutional lenders, private equity clients, high-net-worth families and real estate developers.

Mr. Grigorians is an active member of the Los Angeles business community. Alex serves on the Standing Committee of the California Bar Association (Financial Institution’s Committee), the Executive Committee of the Beverly Hills Bar Association (Real Estate Committee), and the Board of Directors to City of Hope’s Real Estate & Construction Industries Council. He is a founding member of the City Of Hope “Building Hope” subgroup, a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), the Los Angeles County Bar Association and the Armenian Bar Association. Mr. Grigorians is also committed to various community and educational organizations including the UCLA Alumni Association, the Buckley School Alumni Association and the Jonathan Club. Alex has also handled pro bono adoption matters for the Alliance for Children’s Rights.

Mr. Grigorians is a frequent speaker at real estate industry conferences and symposiums. Alex was most recently a guest lecturer at the Real Estate Law and Business Forum hosted by the USC Gould School of Law. Mr. Grigorians earned his undergraduate degree at the University of California, Los Angeles and his J.D. from Southwestern Law School. He also holds a real estate broker’s license in California.

  • Representation of bridge lenders, conduct lenders, investment banks, insurance companies, hedge funds, private equity funds, and local opportunity funds in bridge, CMBS, term and portfolio financing for multifamily, retail, industrial and hospitality projects.
     
  • Representation of buyers and sellers of all classes of multifamily, retail, office, industrial and hospitality properties; including purchase and sale negotiations as well as related due diligence through closing.
  • Advised various special servicers in the workout and restructuring of over $1 billion in CMBS financing secured by retail, industrial, multifamily, and mixed-use properties.
     
  • Advised mezzanine lender and preferred equity provider in connection with financing of a mixed-use hospitality development involving senior financing, mezzanine financing, tri-party preferred equity infusion, EB-5 joint venture and historic tax credits.
     
  • Advised private equity venture fund formed by local and international owners and developers to purchase a broad range of property types; including related fund formation negotiations, diligence and related investigations.
     
  • Represented court-appointed receiver in all aspects of management, leasing and disposition of the then-largest ski resort in North America.
     
  • Represented sellers in asset sales and stock sales of ongoing business enterprises by private equity fund together with an ongoing joint venture arrangement.
